Don't Forget: ADULTS Need Immunizations Too!

Did you know that October is National Influenza Immunization Month? Yearly influenza immunizations for healthy working adults provide optimal protection and decrease absenteeism due to respiratory and other illnesses.

Immunization goes beyond vaccines for influenza. It is a primary preventative health strategy to protect people against various vaccine preventable diseases.

Importance of Immunizations:

  • a key strategy in promoting health, protecting individuals and their community, including workplaces from vaccine preventable diseases
  • up to date immunizations provides active protection from vaccine preventable diseases and their related complications

Some vaccines are received just once and can protect against specific illnesses throughout the lifespan, while other vaccines require a booster shot after a specified amount of time. Many adults may believe that illnesses that were once prevalent no longer exist but increased travel and globalization can very quickly lead to encounters with these diseases again.
